When the sky is gray
And the river dark
When the dogs of hate
Drool, growl and bark

Render Love
Let there be peace in your hand
Lay down your weapons of hate
And lift up your fears

When the ocean is angry
And waves crash your shore
When the sand erodes away
And your eyes are sore

Remember Love

When the branches grab and tear
And the path becomes invisible
When the darkness grows strong

I guess "lift up yur fears" and "lift up your tears" make remembering love sound perdy vulnerable. Vulnerability isn't very much selfish.
