Between
written by: Tim Gallagher

There is a between
A not here anymore
The smoke rose
The bullet flew
Yet i'm still alive

And in these few moments
A million thoughts
Run riot through my head
Will i be better off
After i'm dead?

There is a between
A not here nor there
Not day, not night
Not peace, not fight
Not black, or white

There is a between
Like the shadows
'tween forest and field
Between death and life
The unknown, the gasp

Still I see the smoke puff
And everything else clearly

This life i've been living
This war i've been fighting
And time and the bullet
From that puff of smoke

And all of my baggage
And all of my lies
My paper thin disguise
Have all caught up with me

Oh.... (sighed)
Such a tiny piece of lead
From that gun fired
But now it's time to go home
And it's not too soon
I was becoming so tired
