For What It's Worth

For all the hard things you do
For the sweat, tears and hurt
For the toiling in all this dirt
You should know, for what it's worth
Pages turn and the chapters are written
And it's ok for you to be smitten
She's great and grand and oh-so-kitten
And you should be love-bug bitten
For all the early mornings and late nights
For the time spent apart from the other
For the phone calls, and lack of smother
You should know, for what it's worth
For all the rain without the thunder
For all the times you're torn asunder
For whenever you're full of blunder
You should know life's full of wonder
It's better by far with a "her" beside you
An "us" instead of a dusty musty old "me"
Not just a you, not just a her, but a "we"
It's life, and it's together, wait and see...
And so, for all the times you lack
For all your picking up the slack
You should know, for what it's worth
For all of the have but none of the hold
You should know the prize is better than gold
