October

Along comes October, and there's reason to hope
that maybe next year will be better than the last
But it's one more day up here in Kansas
And it's one more day in the life of
It's one more year that's gone past
Gone past... way way too fast
A crisp autumn, and there's reason to believe
That maybe there is reason to hope after all
But it's one more day down under this earth
And it's one more death, a body to drag out
But October brings the hope like of birth
It takes away this lonely summer curse
Along comes fall, leaves covering the ground
Hand in hand, can it be? am I really found?
Here on the winter's eve, and the cold crisp
Is touching my cheeks, my lips, my hands
Holding yours warmly inside my heart
If you have something to say, if you could
And if I have reason to love, reason to hope
If you know something I don't, I wish you would
Because there's a long winter ahead
Fireside beside you? Or wishing I was dead?
